I don’t know why I had to take it this far, but I just couldn’t help myself. I couldn’t get my beloved hand-painted Betty Boop Levi’s from 90’s/high school (originally made at now long gone Basic Blues Salvaged/re-worked denim in London, Ontario) out of my head…I always loved them, always regretted not keeping them, always wondered where they ended up…I have a vivid memory of wearing those jeans while reading the Sassy magazine with the cover showing fire-engine-red headed Kurt with Courtney kissing him while I was sitting in the hallway waiting for my drama school to open the doors for class. Since I never tracked the jeans down, I finally decided to make a pair for myself. I am certain my kids will always remember my obsession with making these. I would work on the floor whenever we were watching a movie at night over the last few weeks. I squeezed some of my favourites in and some HOT CHIP lyrics. The theme for these ones was different forms of love I think.
